Oh Baby!
I love wool. I love cotton. I love mixing the two together. I love texture. The pregnancy with Goldie and Virginia was stressful for me...two to worry about! But, when I finally could believe they were really coming into this world, I, of course had to make baby quilts. But, they couldn't be soft pastel. They had to be bright, cheery, happy. I started looking around in my sewing room and I kept coming back to the leftover fabric from Henry's bedroom curtains and quilt--a black stripe and polka dot from Michael Miller. The fun began. I pulled other pieces of cotton to coordinate, then wools to embellish. At the time I also had access to an Accu-Cut machine, so I knew I wanted chicks, butterflies, lambs, and tongues. I love wool embroidery! Here's Goldie's quilt.

Virginia's quilt is very similar...just a few different fabrics.

I had Sue Urich machine quilt both quilts. I wanted their names quilted into the rows. Sue does a lovely job! (And, she quilts on an APQS machine--even better!)

As I sit here writing this blog, I can hear Goldie waking up...she is quite a chatter box in the morning. I wonder who she takes after? The day is about to start!

I love the stripe with the tongues around it. The effect is just lovely. It almost reminds me of a circus tent, it is so vibrant.

Heidi, how wonderful to have found you! With a 2 year old and 13 week-old identical twins, I've yet to manage to find any time for quilting/crafting - please tell me all this chaos will ease up!
Your babies are beautiful, as are your quillts.

How fun, we must talk! Life with twins is great. I love 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. when all is quite.
