It's Harvest Season
Here in Iowa it's harvest season. As I sit at the computer, even at 8:27 CST, I can hear the noises of combines running in the fields. There is a certain energy in the air...the weather is beautiful, the crops are good, and it's time to go. When I picked up Henry from daycare tonight he couldn't wait to get in the combine with Dad. They are still running on beans tonight. I know he'll bound in the door with excitement even at this late hour. When the girls and I finally made it into the house and I had time to look out the window. This is what I saw.

The perfect harvest moon. (I'm no pro at taking night-time photos!) And to the right in the picture are the lights of the combine harvesting beans in our field behind us. This isn't Jeff and Henry in the combine, although it is our field. I'll get a photo of them in another blog.
I always wanted to be a farmer's wife, and I am. At the same time, it's exciting, but stressful. I have great appreciation for farmers. But, I also know to well how dangerous it is. So, as this harvest season takes off in full force, let each and every farmer be safe.

What a beautiful photo. Thanks for sharing your farm life with us.

I just saw this very moon as I was driving home this evening. It is full and beautiful. I hope the season is safe and productive for your family.

I love this photo. I have a thing for harvest, farms, country life... it's so appealing and fascinating to me. Thanks for sharing Heidi.
PS: The Iowa State Fair... it's right up there on my wish list with Paris, London and Barcelona. I kid you not!

We LOVE the Iowa State Fair. We go as many days as possilbe. The girls won 5th place in Most Alike Twins under 1 this year. The milk shakes, the corn dogs...oh, the future blogs I can write.

Amazing photos and inspiring write-up, Heidi. Absolutely I'd like to be a part of country life, though living in Istanbul seems so attractive. Anyway I admire you a lot

Heidi, I wondered what your new adventure was going to be. So I checked you out on the internet today and found out! What fun. I am married to a farmer, and in my spare time I quilt near Beaman, so when you want to talk quilts, I will be happy to chat.

Beth, you are so close to me...call or stop by sometime and introduce yourself. Have we met at any quilting events?
Jeff managed to combine this weekend without getting stuck...but, of course, I was able to get the truck stuck in mud on one trip to the field with snacks! Oh, the fun! Heidi

Heidi,
We actually met at a highschool football game several years ago. Your mother in law also taught our kids. I am assuming you have met all the local twins-I am friends with one set-they both had kids the same age as ours. I will call you sometime after you get back from quilt market-is there a good time of day to call you? Have fun-hope to get there someday. Will look forward to your blogs.
