10% off and Dancing
What is it about dancing that always gets my attention? Is it the gracefulness in the dancers that I envy? Or the romance of watching two people move together as one? Or is it just Richard Gere in a tux holding a rose coming up the escalater to get his wife that makes me cry every time? That intense feeling of love. Are you familar with Shall We Dance? Total chic flick...I love it. And, yes, I love Dancing with the Stars. I love the thought of dancing so much I even took Ballroom Dancing for college credit when I was at Iowa State University.
That was how the girls and I ended our girl time Saturday night. It had been quite a day. Henry was a farmer on Saturday...working cattle, grinding feed, and combining corn. He loves being with his dad. They worked from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. yesterday. And, although I am glad Henry likes to spend the time with Jeff. And, that Jeff can have him help...it really helps me when trying to grocery shop!
I love Super Target...great selection, always good service. And, if you're not familar with their credit card deal...when you spend $1000, then you get a card for 10% off all of your purchases for one entire day. And, if you think I'm shopping for wild, exciting things...you're sadly wrong! Diapers, formula, baby food, toilet paper, pop, detergent. And, when I do these 10% days, I usually am trying to stock up so that I'm not going to the grocery store every day to get something. (Carrying two cars seats and holding onto a three-year-old requires a real need.) But on days like Saturday, if Henry is with his dad, then I can easily find someone to help with Goldie and Virginia. This time it was my friend Maureen Miller. She had so much fun with the girls and I so appreciate it.
You can see the girls were having a good time, too. Goldie is in green, Virginia in violet.

So while they were playing with Maureen, I was shopping. It usually takes two carts. I go through the first time and buy all of the heavy, big box stuff like diapers and pop. That can line the bottom of the back of the Explorer. Then I go back for the soft stuff, little stuff, and cold stuff. I bring a cooler with ice packs because I have to drive over an hour home. This is another reason why it's great Henry is with Dad. Then I don't have to add on the hitch platform to haul the groceries home. Oh, the things you figure out!

Yikes! With three kids I NEVER had to add a trailer to pull it all home!!!

Wow. That's a lot of stuff. I love Super Target as well. None here by me, but when I visit my cousin in Minnesota we always do some SUPER TARGET shopping. Target was always my little oasis when my daughter was in school. Someplace you could go and just walk the aisles, pick up a few things and have a moments peace!

Hi, Auntie! I can't believe how big Goldie and Virginia are getting! I can't wait until Mom and Dad get Ryan and me to your house again. And Dad says the coffee cake is making him hungry. Love, Megan

Heidi, I'm exhausted from reading about your shopping routine! I reared three sons but I did it the easier way, one child at a time. I'm sitting here trying to imagine how it would be taking three kiddos to Super-Target and I can't, imagine that is. So I will say 'HATS OFF TO YOU' - you're my new hero!

Well I must admit that this season is my first Dancing with the Stars experience. You are right ballroom dancing is so elegant and exciting. I have really enjoyed watching it weekly. It is however hard to pick a favorite as they are all so good. It amazes me how they can achieve such perfection in 1 weeks time. I do have to admit that the song with Billy Ray and his daughter brought tears to my eyes. I have really enjoyed reading your stories as well, I do not know how you do it all. I admire you as well- I know how 1 baby wipes me out and I have older helpers too. Your amazing!! I had a friend email me this verse last week that has stuck in my mind..
God determines who walks into your life...it's up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go. I'm glad you have walked back into my life. Thanks for the inspiration- your an amazing wife, Mom and friend. Kristy
