Memory Loss and Baby Steps

Why is that I can remember telephone numbers without blinking an eye, but I can't remember to pick up the milk on my way home from work? I laugh at some of the stuff I do remember and kick myself at some of the stuff I forget. So, I'm kicking myself today because I forgot to post some Quilt Market photos. I'm sorry Renee! I was going through my photos today and realized that I had left out her adorbable booth (Liberty Star).

I'm going to have to make the little girl dress quilt!

When I returned home from Market and Festival my little girls had grown so much. Virginia is about ready to crawl. She's getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth. Henry seemed like he had grown up so much, too. We were all so glad to be home!

It was an interesting experience at Market/Festival this year. I've been going to Market since 1992 and have gone to Festival numerous times over the last 15 years. So, it was fascinating to experience it from a new perspective and different angle. I looked at things differently. I saw things I'd never seen before (or at least didn't need in my previous job). It was very energizing.

Although lots of people knew that I had changed jobs, there were lots who didn't. So, I spent a lot of time talking about why I changed jobs and all of the exciting things going on in my life. One of things I am excited about is the retreats I'm going to hold in 2008. They are small retreats, but will be special and fun! I'm working on all of the details and know that the next few months will go fast and they will be here before I know it.

When I switched jobs I also decided that I would create a web site to promote my retreats, lectures, and classes. And, much like when Henry says, "I can do that." I said "I can design my own web site." So, it's not fancy...but it's mine and I did it all myself! I think of it as taking baby steps. The web site isn't prefect, it's a little wobblely, but when with each step I take I'll be more confident and more sure of what I'm doing. I hope to spice it up a little, add more pictures, etc. But, at the moment it's a step in the right direction and the beginning of a fun-filled experience.

So, be sure to visit www.heidikaisand.com and you're welcome to give me feedback. And, who knows, maybe you'll want to come to Iowa for three days next year and sew with me.

Wow Heidi you are one busy mom! I think we're getting to the point in life where we have far too much to remember, so picking up the milk is much more difficult than calling an old friend!

    Happy Quilting!

Seeing everyone's Quilt Market photos makes me want to be there! Everything looks too wonderful! Perhaps next year I can find myself there somehow. At least I can hope.
