Soooo...big!

When the girls were born, I immediately had lots of people asking me how big they were. So to give everyone some perspective I had a picture taken of me holding the girls.

Here is one taken August 1, 2007.

This one was taken today, January 27, 2008.

I can barely hold on to both at the same time. At their 9 month appointment on January 11, Goldie (on the left) weighed 21 pounds 5 ounces and Virginia (on the right) weighed 21 pounds. Both measured 30 inches long! And, yes, that's big brother Henry smiling big next to me. Don't think he has grown too much...he's standing on an old-fashion high chair next to me! But, he does tip the scales at 35 pounds these days!

Jeff and I are so blessed to have three beautiful children. Henry is constantly trying to make his sisters laugh. Virginia has been the first to crawl and stand up...but Goldie is pulling herself up just as easily and quickly these days as her sister. And, yesterday Goldie did a first...put her knee on the first step on the staircase going up. I thought maybe I had a few days before both up and down staircases needed to be blocked.

Every day is filled with adventure. Thank goodness we have doors to close. I've been too late twice in getting to Winnie's (our Yellow Lab) water dish. Just how can they be right beside you one minute and within seconds realize a door is open and quietly get through the door and into trouble? Good thing for tile floors.

And, eating is just too funny. The faces smothered with food. The "what is that?" look on their faces. Or the rolling of the tongue like get that out of my mouth. We go through four containers of baby food each feeding. And, of course top it off with a little milk. When I bought food the last time at Target, the woman noted that I had a lot of food. Yes, we have twins was my reply. Well, she wondered...her identical twins are now 24-year-old men. And, to make the world even smaller her in-laws are from the town we live in.

I was talking recently to a sales rep that is expecting a baby yesterday! I do hope all is well. Well, I couldn't resist giving her some motherly advice....enjoy every moment, it will go by too fast. I was telling her how in the first five weeks I was exhausted, breast-feeding, and exhausted. You get that feeling that you're never going to sleep more than 2 hours at a stretch. Then suddenly they start sleeping longer and then through the night. Goldie and Virginia started sleeping through the night at 9 weeks. And, now we're looking toward ending the bottle in the next few months...moving to sippy cups. They'll be walking soon. It really does go so fast.

Well, the girls are sleeping. Henry is ice fishing with Dad on the pond. And, the tax work for the farm is looming over my head. On to other things for today.
