Cheerie Cherries

Images of cherries always bring a smile to my face. What is it about them that makes me smile? It's red--my favorite color. It's a fruit--always good to eat. They are a living thing.  It's classic and traditional--but why? I carry a small clip board in my purse for keeping the To-Do list handy. It has cherries on a lime green background. I have a small tote in the car for emergency needs--cherries on black background.  I have cherry socks...with cute little cherries dangling from the back--looked great on Valentine's Day. I have a bracelet with lots of white with red image buttons. Of course cherries are included. I bought the girls cherry swimsuits, trimmed in red-and-white gingham. Oh, how those chubby little legs and arms are going to look so cute in those suits. I've visited blogs with cherries in the header. I've visited blogs where there are cherries on shoes. I've visited blogs where there are cherries everywhere. I've seen people sewing with cherries. The list goes on and on.

So why do I find cherries so appealing? Is it because I'm a happy person and I'm happy like a cherry? That sounds goofy doesn't it. If pineapples are the fruit that says "welcome", are cherries the universal sign for "be my friend" or "happy person lives here" or "Be Happy"? I've always been drawn to Mary Engelbreits' Bowl of Cherries art work. Life is just a chair of bowlies. It is the light-heartedness of finding humor in small things. Now I'm thinking about this too hard. Maybe it's just something in life to enjoy. Simple, precious, happy.

I found this cherry print at a rummage sale..so classic to me. I have this in my sewing room tucked behind containers and sewing supplies on a shelf.

You know I love cherries! I have a cherry cover for my phone. Cherry flannel pajama's. Cherry underwear. I bought a plain robe so I could embroider cherries on it.....and stacks of cherry fabrics. A cherry border in my kitchen, cherries on my plates, cherry dishtowels.....it's a bit of an obsession. I think they are just cheerfull and old fashioned and make me smile.

Cherries are quite happy looking, although I never really saw it that way... (however the kool-aid man always reminded me of a big cherry) Anyways i enjoyed reading this, I actually just like to eat the cherries. If you are a true cherry lover, you should check out the country ovens web-site where everything is cherry de-liteful!
