Day 3 of the Walking Challenge
Day 3-March 3
I almost gave into a busy house on day 3, but I convienced myself that supper would be ok 10 minutes later (we never eat early anyway) and I really want to make this habit a good one. And, Jeff came in the house at the right time. Since the temperature outside was a high of 22 degrees and a wind chill feels like temperature of 10 degrees, walking outside didn't sound too good. I own a treadmill...yeah, yeah, I should never have any excuse for not walking. But, walking outside is so much nicer. I love to enjoy my surroundings. But, last night it was the treadmill. Jeff stayed upstairs with the girls, while Henry came with me to the basement. Our basement is not finished, so the treadmill sits at the bottom of the steps with an extension cord running up to the outlet on the staircase landing. Our basement has some beautiful windows and in the morning it is actually very nice to look East over the pond and watch the sun come up. But, this was after 6 p.m., so the sun was going down and the basement only has a few lightbulbs dangling from the ceiling to illuminate the way. But, Henry loves it down there. We have misc. tractors and big cardboard boxes for him to play with. The one thing about walking on the treadmill that I do like is seeing how far I've gone (only went .41 miles tonight in 10 minutes...didn't walk at a fast pace), I burned 54 calories and 15 fat calories in 10 minutes.

I'm enjoying your creativity with walking Heidi! It certainly takes dedication to walk in an unfinished basement at dusk LOL!

I'm on georgia so I rarely need to hit the treadmill, but when I do I used to read. but now that I'm learning to knit I keep and easy project going so I can stand the boredom of the treadmill. I can do about 3.6 mph knitting, which comes to nearly a mile when I set the treadmill to 35 minutes. not bad! In my house it's the kitties who follow me to the basement. Knit one, tread two?

I'm amazed! I have heard people say they read, but not knit. I've never tried either! I love multi-tasking and this is true multi-tasking.
