Quilting Coast to Coast
Saturday was National Scrapbooking Day and I attended a local event with my friend/Creative Memories consultant Donna to learn more about the digital software I have purchased. It was fun to see what some others had done with the software and I learned a few tricks...well worth the time spent. But, I think it must have been a sewing holiday, as well, as several people I talked to this weekend were sewing--including me!
My sewing mission was to have quilt tops ready for Tuesday, when I'll be taping an episode of the Fons & Porter PBS show. I'm very excited. I love doing this kind of thing and it's been a while since I've had the chance. I'll be showcasing the APQS Lenni machine. Lenni is just the right machine for so many quilters like myself. I do lots of baby quilts, quilts for the kids, lap size quilts for watching TV under, and an occasional double-bed size. I like doing all of the steps in the quilt-making process, including finishing them. So, here is what I'm taking to the taping.

This was just some 6 inch squares I had leftover from some baby quilts I made last fall. I also made a smaller 4x5 square quilt that might work will for a doll quilt for Goldie and Virginia to use.
Then there's the wild one...the one for Henry. He'll be four in a few weeks, so I wanted to make him a Four-Patch quilt. And, he loves his sock monkey, so I couldn't resist this fabric. I just went for scrappy. He'll love it, although it is a little crazy! It's long and narrow so it will be perfect for watching TV under.

My friend Beth also reported that she'd been quilting. She's been working on reproducing the Copp quilt. This is an awesome antique quilt. I love the simplicity and scrapiness. I can't wait to see Beth's version.

And, way out in Corning, New York, my mother and niece Megan are working on this project. My mom said Megan's stitches were just perfect! I'm so proud of Megan. And, I can't help thinking about my Grandma Moore teaching me to quilt, too. She'd be so happy to see the quilting tradition being passed down another generation. Megan, one thing you might want to prepare for as you grow older...a large fabric stash. It's in the genes.

What did everyone else quilt on this weekend?

So sweet about your mom and neice! I love the sock monkey quilt. This week I made coasters and quilted them - so easy and quick!!(and much needed around my house). No kidding it takes like 15 minutes per coaster!
