Family Reunion Week?
This week is filled with so many wonderful things....with tomorrow being the highlight (the girls turn 1!). I just have to take a minute and share with you what I've been up to. On Tuesday, I spent the day with Marianne Fons and Liz Porter taping an episode of their PBS series.

Because we're all from Iowa and in the quilting industry, we've know each other for a long time. But, this is the first time I've had the pleasure of working with Liz and Marianne on their PBS tv show. I brought Lenni with and we had fun discussing how to get started long-arm quilting with him. It's been more than a year since I've been behind the camera, but it sure was fun. And, although I was there to teach Marianne and Liz some tricks, they taught me a few, too!

And, then today was equally exciting! I got to attend the grand opening of Pine Needles Sewing Center's new store in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. There were ribbon cutting ceremonies. Owners Henry and Jill are on the left, and special guest Alex Anderson and their daughter Therese are on the right. Yes, this crowd was lucky enough to have Alex at the center of the day!

Alex and I go back a few years, so I always enjoy a chance to see her.

There was a line of people waiting to have Alex autograph books. (That's the back of her head.)

I was there to help promote APQS products, as Pine Needles Sewing Center is a dealer for us. And any quilting event like this starts feeling like a family reunion as I see familar faces from past quilt guild lectures. And, it's always extra fun to see people you least expect....like Lisa--a quilter from Des Moines that I have a lot in common with...same age, both have three kids, both like quilting.

And, I always enjoy time with our Director of Education Dawn Cavanaugh. She's a WEALTH of information. I learn something everytime I talk to her.

I better get some rest, because tomorrow is the big "1" day for Goldie and Virginia. I can tell I'm going to cry lots, as I'm already crying thinking about it. These are tears of happiness and joy!!

While that was one of the best days for Pine Needles to celebrate with awesome people, you are celebrating a great milestone for your family. Happy Birthday to the girls!
