She Knows How to Throw a Party

Portland, Oregon, is hosting International Quilt Market this weekend. This is the third time that I've attended market in this bustling town. We got lucky on hotwire.com and are staying at the Avalon Hotel and Spa. Our room overlooks the Willemette River. The door to our porch is open and I can hear the birds chirping as I write. And, the complimentary breakfast is yummy!

Each time I've been to Portland, I've had the opportunity to be a guest at Geri Grasvik's events. Geri owns The Pine Needle in Lake Oswego, OR. Because Quilt Market comes at the same time as the debut of Quilt Sampler magazine, she centered the party around having me autograph copies of the magazine. But Geri is a marketer and that was just a small part of the event. This year was no different, except Jennifer Keltner is autographing the magazines and I was demoing the Millennium. So here are just a few of the party pics from last night.

So here is the new editor of American Patchwork & Quilting and Quilt Sampler magazine--Jennifer Keltner.

Then there was APQS Oregon sales rep Linda Alexander showing people how easy it is to quilt. Are the displays of quilts behind her beautiful.

And, the food was delicious. Salmon, blue cheese and apples, mini pot pies, tomatoes and mozzerale cheese.

Besides having APQS as a vendor guest, there was chocolate, jewelry, pin cushions, and a local wine. Tina was sharing some of the Prive Vineyard wines. Very nice melange. She created it to go along with brick oven pizza. I need to be friends with this woman!

And, there were so many familiar faces attending the party...including Mary Lou Weidman! So fun to see her.

More pictures tomorrow!

Wow, I don't know what to say about that photo of me Heidi. I have looked at this 3 times and it gets scarier each time. I won't ever leave the house without makeup when driving 6 hours again. But I do have to say it is always LOVELY to see you and your sweet smile. Glad you enjoyed Market.
