Home Sweet Home
We wrapped up Spring Quilt Market on Sunday night and flew home Monday morning. I always love going to market, but I always love coming home. I headed straight from the airport to our daycare provider to get the kids. The smiles from Goldie and Virginia were priceless. I had to wake Henry up from his nap, and he hugged me oh, so tight all the way out to the car. We decided to get some ice cream to celebrate my arrival home. But first we had to make a quick trip to the grocery store for some basics--milk and watermelon! We seem to go through those things very quickly these days.
I must confess that I did something in the Denver airport that I've never done before...I shopped for shoes! At Quilt Market I was so taken by Pat Sloan's two pair of Crocs. They weren't the Crocs I'm used to seeing. What she was wearing was simple and stylish. I remembered seeing the Croc kiosk on my first flight (B Terminal if you're interested, on the upper floor by Wolf Gang Puck.) I had an hour between flights...plenty of time to investigate. Well only minutes later I had four pair in hand...a pair of Khaki Crocs in the simple style for me, a pair of purple and a pair of pink velcro sandles for the girls, and a pair of bright "John Deere" green velcro sandles for Henry. Too fun! Why have I not done this before?
We had to get those shoes on right away. The girls and Henry love them. (And, I love mine.) Virginia is sporting the purple Crocs in this photo. And a close-up of Goldie's pink pair. The girls are going to grow out of them quickly, but we'll have fun in the meantime!

Several days have passed with craziness at the office and the last big push at the farm to get the corn in. Now this morning I'm sitting at my kitchen island listening to the wind howling and looking so cold outside. But, inside, my heart is warm watching Virginia and Goldie. They are both walking so well these days. I decided to get out a basket of plastic stuff that is in the pantry. For almost 20 minutes now they have been intrigued by going through the cups and lids. As if this was as good as winning the lottery. And, then to listen to them talk to each other, look at each other, play with each other. The giggles. What must it be like for them to look at each other? They have a built in playmate. A built in friend. A sister. Virginia is currently laying on her back, looking up at something, stretching her legs and arms, and smiling. Goldie is working hard at eating a lid. I don't want to get up and grab my camera...because you know the moment will be gone. They'll want to follow me. So instead I'll take lots of mental images and tell you what I'm seeing.
We've discussing the retreat I'm hosting in July. I share my ideas for food and goodies and the extra touches I want to provide. Goldie and Virginia look at me as if I'm talking Greek. They are having more fun talking too each other. It's hard to believe that the retreat is just 2 months away. My mom has been testing out recipes and I've been working on the extras. It's really been a fun adventure so far and we haven't even gotten to the retreat yet.
We're off to help some friends celebrate a wedding anniversary tonight...25 years. That seems like so many, but then Jeff and I will be celebrating 17 later this year and it seems like just yesterday!
Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

Speaking of Crocs. And Cabella's... I must confess to have actually gone inside Cabella's with DH not too long ago. But I scored some fantastic Croc boots there. Yes. Boots! Best shoes ever for working in the yard. Not pretty, but sooooo functional and comfy!
