Triple Treat Retreat Day 3
It is hard to believe how fast time goes when you're having fun. The group of ladies was wonderful. Here we all are!

This is Lisa A. from Fergus Falls, MN. Lisa came to the retreat with her daughter Leah, who married a Swiss man in March. Her project for the weekend was to make Minnesota themed wall hangings that she's going to use as hostess gifts when they travel to Switzerland in September to attend Leah and Remko's wedding reception. Lucky hostesses!

Donna had these bug blocks in progress before the retreat but was having fun finishing them and trimming them up. They just make you smile.

Note the time on the clock -- 11:20 a.m. on Sunday. What's ironic is that we returned to the retreat house at 11:20 p.m. on Saturday with this bundle of fabric ready to make the Fat Quarter Shuffle. So, in 12 hours, I not only got 4 hours of sleep, finished putting the borders on a quilt that I started 5 years ago, helped my mom feed my guests brunch, and cut, sewed, and finished this quilt. I was SO excited. (Thanks for the challenge, Marge!)

Mary (she's the one peeking from behind the quilt) was so productive during the weekend. She had these blocks pieced when she arrived, but had to lay them out and put them together. What a stunning quilt top.

Besides Lisa A.'s daughter getting married in March, her son just got married this month. We got to see pictures of this beautiful outdoor wedding. The bride had used lots of wildflowers and plants to decorate the event. This is what Lisa wore on her dress. The little balls formed a large ball when it was just cut. And, I think it was so cool they used sand in Mason jars in place of the traditional unity candle.

My "mission" box continued to be a delight to open. I got a birthday card that sang to me! But, the last present (there was a note on this package to open last) was the kicker. My friend sent me a quilt that I had admired of hers. How fun! And, to make it even better--Tracy R., one of my guests, had given me a magnetic quilt rack the day before. It was the perfect size for the blue chicken quilt. We couldn't have planned that better. I'm going to have such happy memories every time I look at this quilt.

I have so many stories that I could share, but the thing I like the most about this retreat is the new friends I've made. Here they are with just a few of the projects they worked on.

Oh, my, looks like you all had great fun and what beautiful projects!!! I am wondering, though - is that water I see? If it is, I picture you in a boat or big waders taking the picture!!

Apparently one of your retreats is the place to go to really get stuff done!
All that work and everyone got to eat and have fun? I'm impressed!

We did really have a fun time. It was amazing how much sewing did occur! People went shopping and slept, too!
The retreat house sits on a canal, just off of the Cedar River. So I was on the other side of the canal taking this picture.
