Two Weeks of Hope and Awe

Do you love the Olympics as much as I do? The incredible talent, the coming together of nations in peace. It's wonderful. I always love the gymnastics, but this year was especially fun because of Shawn Johnson from Iowa. I can't imagine flinging my body through the air like they do, but it's so incredible to watch. We watched a lot of Olympics at our house and it was rubbing off on Henry. When cousin Stephanie came to visit they spent time digging a hole to China. They "buried" a football in the hole, too.

And then there has been the racing. Henry loves to run anyway, but the chance to race like the Olympians has been fun for him. Around the living room and kitchen...outside around the driveway loop. Run, run, run. I often say Henry has two speeds--sleeping or running.

Be sure to get your hands and feet in the right position or Henry will give you advice as to where your feet should be (see second photo). This is our friend Becca who came over to play on Saturday (while I did laundry and dishes). She was a good sport! After letting Henry win for several races, Henry told her on this race "now you see if you can win." And, she did!

Well, he'll be too young for London in 2012, 12 years old is probably too young for Chicago in 2016. Maybe 2020? Where will the Olympics be held then??
