The Key to Success
In church on Sunday (September 28), the minister was talking about substance and style. One of his examples was that we marry for style (a man often marries a woman because she's beautiful), rather than for substance (organized, practical, or similiar less exciting traits). After the service I noted to his wife that the key to a successful marriage had nothing to do with style or substance, but rather your willingness to receive implements for your wedding anniversary. I went on to explain that today (September 28) was our 17th wedding anniversary and that I had received a 5-bottom plow from my husband. This will go well with the many tractors and other pieces of farm equipment that I've received over the years.

It has been pointed out to me that Jeff was really thinking of me with this gift. If he'd gotten a 2-bottom plow it would have taken him longer to plow. So, with the 5-bottom he'll be home faster!
Do you think that a Cannon DSL camera would be a nice gift for Jeff? He doesn't really like taking pictures or having his picture taken, but I think I might use it from time to time.

Yes, Heidi, I think that camera would be a great gift. You could take a picture of him plowing!

LOL! What a smile this brought as it reminded me of a small TV (for our kitchen) that I received for my birthday and a few other similar items over the years. We will celebrate 40 years in November. I'm getting the feeling a big screen TV is on the horizon for that one.

I always think quilts - yo yo is a good one, as you can give everyone one to try. Or the pointed dresdan plate. I usually cut out enough to hand out to each one to take home and try on their machine.

Yep, get the camera! I have to say I've found a gem tho....I"m getting married on Saturday to a man who actually searches out fabric shops on business trips so he can bring me back goodies!

I am right there with you! I have a collection of sporting goods & equipment in the garage that I probably wouldn't have purchased for myself (like a bowling ball). Enjoy the plow...& the camera too!

Oh my...first of all congratulations and I do believe I have to agree with you. We have our own 44th coming up in a couple of weeks. One of my more memorable gifts was the year my husband gifted me with 3 huge boulders for our yard. But never fear...I did request them. Louise

Hi Heidi,
Get the camera so that you can take more pictures of your wonderful family. Your daughters are so cute and they are lucky to have such a thoughtful brother--at least for now.

It was me who suggested Tiff include you in her "worst gift" give-away. I'm so glad you decided to join the fun. I loved the comment you left on Tiff's post. Personally, I think you've got us all beat!

Happy belated anniversary!! (I'm typing this on Friday ... as in 5 days AFTER the event!) ... anyhow, Sept 28th is also our anniversary ... it was our 23rd anniversary this year (time flies!)
... as far as your "gift" .... my Uncle Tom was on the same wavelength when he bought my Aunt Irma a chainsaw for their anniversary "Look what I got you for our anniversary Irma!" (as he revved it up in the kitchen .....)
