And the stockings are hung
I made our stockings from wool and lined them with velvet. That way when you put your hand inside it is nice and soft! Can you guess which ones belong to Henry and Jeff? And, Winnie our 13-year-old yellow lab. The girls get snowflakes and I get circles! I used an Accu-cut to cut out the applique shapes.

I have lots of fond memories of growing up. But Christmas brings back so many memories. I always liked helping mom decorate the tree. And, baking cookies was a favorite. I found this old photo and wanted to share a snapshot to my past! There orginally wasn't a fireplace in the house I grew up in, although Mom and Dad did add one. But the Christmas tree and stockings were in our foyer. You can see the tree in the mirror. That is my brother Matt beside me.

I love the wool stockings and lining them with velvet is a great idea! The look on your face is so sweet in the stocking picture from the past. I loved Christmas stockings as a kid and now I make or buy ones I really like and hang them all over the house. Santa would be hard-pressed to fill them all but I just like the memories they bring!

What a sweet picture of you and your brother !! I just LOVE your stone fireplace (and of course those terrific stockings you made really add the finishing touch!!). I was reading back through your recent posts (LOVE that one with your cutie pie kids out in the snow ) ... and I also got a chuckle reading the "stringing the lights" post .... is your hubby really such a sweet and pleasant guy? (stringing the lights at our house usually is accompanied by a few choice words!!)
Happy Holidays!

CUTE photo!
When grandson Owen was here this week he expressed concern that we have no stockings hung and suggested I could nail them to the back of the sofa. At age 6 that sounds like an ok idea.
