Missing in Action

Goldie, left, Henry, and Virginia
You may be wondering why no recent blogs about the holiday spirit and festivities at the Kaisand house. Well, I may have been missing in action from the blog world, but I've been very busy at my #1 job of being Mom. Here's a quick run-down of what has been happening.
December 9--ice storm hits; I stay home with kids; notice Goldie is getting cold (tis the season!)
December 10--normal day; yes Goldie has a cold and it looks like Virginia is getting one, too.
December 11--day starts out normal, but Goldie spikes fever by mid-morning; call doctor and take girls for doctor visit #1; diagnosis is ear infections and colds
December 12--girls seem really sick; I stay home to be with them; skip visit with Santa
December 13--girls are not getting better; take for doctor visit #2; diagnosis is still ear infections, cold; lung congestion; change medicines, add neb treatments.
December 14--Jeff stays home with girls while I see Henry debut as a sheep in the church Christmas program (brought tears to my eyes; pictures to come)
December 15--night not good for Goldie; know we're headed back to the doctor for visit #3; both girls are diagnosised with RSV; Goldie is admitted to hospital because she is worse; call Grandma McNutt to come and help
December 16, 17, and 18--Goldie is in hospital, tethered to an IV pole; Jeff juggles between home, work, and hospital
December 19--8 inches of snow fell over night, but Goldie is released from hospital. Nothing is stopping us from getting home; greeted with sign made by Henry and Virginia (and Grandma Kaisand!); Goldie is so glad to be able to run free; Virginia is stuck to me like glue.
December 20--blizzard warnings make going outside frightful; trying to make list of what needs to happen before Thursday.
December 21--just glad to be with my family and enjoy sisterly love.
Goldie, facing us, hugging Virginia

I wondered where you've been, I've been thinking of you with all this cold and snowy weather. I'm sure glad you're children are all ok, nothing is scarier than sick kids!
With all this snow and wind our road has been blocked and I haven't gotten out for days.....but hopefully I'll get pics of all the sewing I've done posted soon!

There is nothing worse to the lead up to Christmas when little children are ill and missing out on the fun..I hope they are all better now and that you have a safe and festive holiday.

I am so sorry! Having young kids in winter, always means the passing of germs. I have my grandson several days a week, and my two granddaughters from time to time as well, so I know how that goes. So happy Goldie is out of hospital and both girls are better.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Stay in and stay warm.

I am so glad Goldie is home and doing well. Our son was hospitalized with respiratory issues when he was a little tyke and it is so hard to see your child sick. The huggy picture of the girls is so sweet and Henry's sign is very nice. We drove to Iowa (Ft. Dodge) on Sat. morn in snow and terrible white out conditions the last 20 mile near Dayton but then had a wonderful weekend with my mother. And the trip home was made in that delightful cold and wind but there were enough "tree breaks" that we made it home safely. It is so nice to be home, isn't it? Enjoy this Christmas with your family. The little ones grow up so fast. Seems like only yesterday (I know, it's a cliche) mine were little but already my grandson is nine and I cannot believe how time flies. Santa's sleigh will work well in all this snow so the kiddies will have a good time!!
