Tools of the Trade Part 2
There are so many tools that I use every day that I wanted to share them with you. Maybe you'll find them useful, too!
Pictures are important to me. I can capture the smiles of my children, the laughs as they play, the funny antics that they do. I've upgraded cameras and am learning each day how to use it better. The on-line photography class I'm taking is helping lots! My camera is a Canon PowerShot SX10is.

I am a fan of personal service at a local camera store. Alexander's Photo in Des Moines is my place to go! I've purchased three cameras there and will go back for many more. I love the photos I get. And, I love sharing them with you.

But, if you're going to take a lot of photos and want to use photos in blogs, scrapbooks, and as gifts, you need to be able to organize them, edit them, and find them. The tool I use for this is Memory Manager from Creative Memories. I've talked about this in the past, so I won't go into a lot of detail here, but it's a GREAT program. Call my consultant if you want to know more.
In the last entry I talked about the scissors I use for sewing. Well, there's also one I use in the kitchen. We got this scissors as a wedding gift 17 years ago. I finally bought a second pair because I'm always washing them. I use them for cutting up spaghetti for the kids, opening packages of food, and just about anything else you can think of. I have the traditional brown, but so wish I'd seen there was red available. They easily come apart and go in the dish washer--a must with kitchen shears.

Another tool I always have near me is a pad of paper. I also have a cute cherry clipboard I got as a gift. The clip board helps keep loose notes from flying around. And, it much easier to write on the steering wheel if I use a clipboard. (Don't tell anyone that I make lists while I'm driving!)

I go through lots of paper, but I happen to be using cherry paper right now, too!

I love a clipboard, too. Have three of them for different uses - a black one for "wooly project notes", a sort of 30's green one for "quilty notes" and a clear plastic one that I use over my little light box when tracing small Redwork and embroidery designs. For larger designs my husband cut a clear piece of plexiglas to fit a very flat picture frame. I then set it on four soup cans with my small light box underneath and it works perfectly!
And, "I won't tell if you won't tell" because only yesterday I was heading up to Shakopee and passed Wagner's Apple Farm and almost stopped to take a photo of their big sign because I loved the message......"To find peace of mind, listen to your heart". Soooo true! Had an appointment so couldn't take time, so grabbed a pencil and paper and scrawled the words as I drove. I was looking at the road all the time I wrote. I'm headed that way again tomorrow and if it's sunny I'm going to take that photo and add it to my blog. My basic photos are okay but if edited like you do, they would look a whole lot better. Perhaps I should put the Memory Manager on my birthday list......
