Sam and Charlotte
Last summer we started talking about getting a cat for outside. Every farm needs one to catch mice and such. Well in October we brought home two totally scared kitties from a neighbors farm. We couldn't get just one, as just one would be lonely. I could write all of the details of the first 24 hours of trying to coax them out from cupboards in our garage. Or the first two weeks when we couldn't park our cars/trucks in the garage in fear of hurting the cats. Or how now after 6 months they are so friendly that they meet you at the back door every morning. They love the kids picking them up and petting them. They "sun" in the south window of the garage on most days.
They call our heated garage home...so life is good. When they get "left" outside when the garage door comes down they know to go to the front door and wait. They spent their first all-nighter outside a few weeks ago on a very frigid night, but both survived.
Oh, did I forget to mention that the cats are two males, not one male and one female as the names would lead you to believe. There's another funny story with that, but I won't tell...except to say "Charlie" and Sam are brothers. Henry didn't want to change Charlotte's name, so he's still Charlotte.
Charlie is grey and Sammy is yellow. They are watching Winnie our dog in this picture.

Heidi, I have to tell you I just love reading your blog and hearing about "life on the farm". I can have just the craziest day - then I'll read an entry and it seems to just relax me to the core. Someday I'm going to visit Iowa --if anything in my next life!

What a sweet picture! I love cats, and I love farms - all good things. We lived in Idaho on a farm for several years, and there is nothing like it, it's just a little bit of heaven with a ton of hard work.

That's such a cute, funny picture. You could have cloned one and just changed his colors!

Hi Heidi!
I'm finally getting some computer time and went straight to your blog! I LOVE cats. I adore that photo-- in semi-profile like that you can actually tell that they look alike and are siblings... too cute! Give them hugs for me
Still pregnant w/ twins,
Robin
