Serious Shopping Fun
The kids and I made a trip to see Grandma and Grandpa McNutt in St. Ansgar, Iowa. That means we have to stop at Home Sweet Home, which is now owned by my cousin Kari, after 25 years of her mother, my Aunt Judy owning it. It's one of those stores that is must-stop for anyone interested in cool decorating ideas and the latest in creative stuff!
She has some wonderful new junk yard art. Don't you think I need this for our front yard? Or should I hold out for the pig, or the blue bunny, or the chicken??

And, this recycled European glassware looked so fresh and fun for spring.

Let me introduce you to Kari, here she and I are in the kitchen section of the store.

We both happen to be wearing necklaces created by an Iowa artist from organic materials. They are reversible with two different looks on each necklace. Here's how she has them displayed. And, I just think the price is unbeatable. $16.95 and you can look cool, too!

Well, I left Grandma and Grandpa with the kids...so I better stop shopping and get home before the kids have dismantled the house. Although you know Grandma loves every minute of it!

Does she have an online presence? I'd love to shop there!

One of Kari's goals is to have an online presence...it's just not ready yet. I'll keep you posted as it becomes available. In the meantime, you can call the shop at 641-713-4698 if you need anything you saw in the pictures. I'll post a picture of the pig I bought and the colorful recycled bowls I got. The girls loved them. And, I got a bunny, too. I'm going to have fun decorating today.

Heidi, Do you know of a quilt shop in Lake Mills owned by Shelly Robson? I don't know where Lake Mills is in relationship to you, but I just wondered?

Are you sure the quilt shop isn't in Forest City rather than Lake Mills? If so, it is called The Quilted Forest. Very nice.

Shelly Robson owns The Quilted Forest in Forest City, Iowa. And, yes, I know Shelly. She is very creative and did several projects for the magazines when I worked at Meredith. And, Forest City (and Lake Mills) are actually close to where I grew up in Northwood. We played both of those schools in sports.
