The Food is Good, The Chatting even Better
Palmer's is a deli-style restaurant in Des Moines. It's one of those places that has so many great choices--sandwiches, salads, and soups. Check out just a portion of the sandwich menu in the background of this photo. And, that's my friend Karmen. We worked together at Meredith and had not gotten together for lunch in too long! We caught up on the kids, and families, and work. Lunches like that are never long enough...I had to get back to work, she had to get home to take care of the kids that were out of school for the day. We'll just have to do it again soon.
For those of you with food envy, I got the salad platter with one meat salad and two sides. I tried the almond turkey (yummy), and had my absolute favorite side of Crunchy Cabbage, and Pasta Primervera.
Palmer's also has interesting wines and a few gift items. A display caught my eye --it looked like olive bottles. On closer inspection it was wine. These bottles were so cool and came with a really large screw-top lid. Even the wine label was interesting. I felt it was my duty to buy one and see if the wine was as good as the packaging. Test results--an above average rating for the Riesling, but not superior. But, then Jeff is the Riesling fan, not me.

As long as you have a riesling to drink, it's all good........
I have a friend who makes his own riesling and it's delicious.....I'm a fan too!

Palmer's is one of my favorite places to eat, and just a block away from our meetings for work. Took my family one time, but it was too much for them, so I enjoy it with friends about every other month.
