We're Going on a Bear Hunt

This is the title of a great children's book. It's been read many, many times at our house. Our yard is about nine acres and includes hills, valleys, water, trees, and many adventures. Henry has loved going on "bear hunts" whenever possible. Now, his sisters are following right behind. As I was planting flowers in the front yard, he headed off on a "bear hunt." I quickly said he needed to stay in the north valley so that I could see him and the two little ones close behind. They climbed up on the dry-docked pontoon boat and I heard him tell them they could not drive it! As if he could! After a while, they climbed down, or tumbled, as I saw Goldie hit the ground. No crying though. And, off they went toward the shed. I was busy sorting out what flowers my mom had brought for me to add to my flower beds, so I had taken my eyes off of them for a minute. When I glanced over to see what they were up to. This is what I saw.

Virginia, Henry, and Goldie

I can only hope that he continues to take care of them as they grow up. I'm sure this won't be the last time they need their big brother helping them on a bear hunt.

I love this photo of your kids. This could have been my children many years ago. Our blonde twin daughters were born 2 years after our son, and I have many photos of big brother Adam, hand in hand with his little sisters on each side. My children are now 34, 32, and 32, and Adam still watches out for his sisters. I'm predicting Henry will be the same way.
On another topic, I'm anxious to try your ham balls recipe. Did I read correctly that one ingredient is graham cracker crumbs? That's such an unusual ingredient in a main dish. The pot luck looked like a real "button popper."

You read the recipe correct. Graham cracker crumbs. I little sweetness that is perfect.

Heidi, please tell Henry he needs to come visit us -- He and Ryan can set up a watch for our bear (in the woods behind the house). We've been visited a couple of times already this spring!
