Texting, Eating, and Laughing
Although it might seem like traveling to quilt shows is all fun (and it is most of the time), we do have to work, too. Because I'm in charge of sales reps across North America and in different time zones, I get phone calls and text messages on a regular basis. It's not uncommon to find me texting between customers.
Heidi and Mark Caraher texting at MQS. (Don't you love how Marilyn Badger is looking over our shoulder?)
A show like MQS keeps us busy from the time we rise, to the time we fall..asleep that is. But, we still must eat. My friends will tell you that I like food and when I get hungry, I must have food. And, a diet Pepsi. Well, during this trip I learned that our Des Moines sales rep Tony O'Tool is way more serious about food than me. And, can he eat. So, on this particular night, Tony wanted (or was that needed) BBQ. We were in KC, home of BBQ, so we headed to "the spot."
Unfortunately, the waiting list was too long for us, as we had more work to do. We settled for the Red Robin next door. Our food was great. That hamburger with mushroom and cheese never tasted so good. The entertainment was lively. Karen McTavish and her son, Storm, joined us for a quick meal.
Who's 44 and who's 4? And, can you make either of these faces?

Could life get much better than playing with a super hero and making guppy faces? Mark sure looks happy.
Then it was back to work. Quilt artist Karen McTavish sold her books at an event that evening, alongside many other designers.
Storm hung close by, with his Red Robin balloon tied to his wrist and his Blackberry in hand. Can you hear him thinking..."Did Mom say not to push the buttons, or to push as many buttons as I want." And, I love the plaid shorts. I need to find a pair like that for Henry.

First, I laughed because I didn't scroll down far enough and couldn't see that the two of you were texting and instead thought you were both tired and napping. Then I laughed at the balloon on the wrist picture and thought what a great idea!!! I'm also one who when hunger strikes, must be fed.

Indeed, it is a lot more work than most peole think. But the laughter at Red Robin and time with great people like Karen and Storm...priceless.

Aah, great photos. So much fun! I bought my Millennium from Mark in 2004 at Houston, he's the greatest. I met Marilyn at Paducah and she let me take her photo as did Mark and both let me put them on my blog. I was happy! When I had my Millie, I loved doing McTavishing and so did my customers. Would love to meet Karen someday.
PS- I am going to send you an email separately about something.
