The Wedding Quilt

July 3, 2009, and the events of this past weekend will not be forgotten anytime soon at the Kaisand house. Henry did an awesome job as ring bearer in Brett and Liz's wedding. Brett and Liz are a fun couple and it was so nice to be a part of their special time. As many of you know, I've been working on their wedding quilt for several months. Earlier posts on piecing and appliqueing have given you a feel of the quilt. But seeing the finished quilt is always the best! (Especially because that means it's done!!!)
On Saturday we were able to join in Brett and Liz's gift opening. Henry and his flower girl, Cameron, helped bring packages to Brett and Liz and open them.
The finished quilt is 113" square, so it takes a large spot to view it. But here is most of it hanging from ou balcony.
I loved the extra detail that my great long-arm quilter added to the wool applique. It was machine-quilted on an APQS Millennium, of course!

They received lots of beautiful gifts, but they did receive another creative gift I have to show. Brett's sister-in-law Megan used lettering from Upper Case living to make this great wall hanging. I thought this was so nice. I've got a sack of letters to spell our last name in a hallway, but have been afraid to tackle the project since I haven't done it before. On Saturday night, during our fishing party (more to come on that tomorrow) I quizzed Megan as to her technique. Maybe I'll get to the project sooner than I thought.

What a great weekend. I'm sure that Brett and Liz will treasure tha quilt for many years to come.
And I hope that you will give us osme details about the name wall-hanging.

Oh, Heidi! What a wonderful job you did with the quilt! I love how it turned out; your use of fabrics, scrappy and unified at the same time - perfect!

You must have heart about a quote that "moments should be lived to make them live forever", that's exactly you've done. Wish you a best of luck for your bright future.
