Gal Pals

Today at 5 p.m. is the kick-off for my summer retreat. My dreams last night were filled with the thoughts of getting 48 hours of sewing time in. Well, I will have to sleep--but not much. (I'll be updating my blog with photos from the retreat this weekend.) But even more importantly I've been thinking about all my girlfriends that have helped make this weekend possible.

This week has been filled with extra creativity and excitement because my friend Connie and two of her children have been here. Several weeks ago I suggested she come to the retreat for a little vacation. It's turned into an awesome week of the extra help I needed to finish stuff for the retreat, an opportunity to have machine quilting done, and a chance for the retreat participants to get to use an APQS Millennium during the retreat.

Every quilter has UFOs and I'm no different. Knowing that both Connie and her daughter Emily quilt and would be here, it was the perfect time to pull those UFOs out and get them done! I'll take pictures of the completed projects and have show-and-tell, but today you get to see this mother-daughter team in quilting action!

Emily and Connie Keller

While I worked in the APQS showroom on Thursday, just outside my office door was the humming of machines that this mother-daughter team was making. By the time we went for lunch at 1 p.m. six small projects had been loaded quilted and trimmed. Whoo Hoo!! I LOVE progress! Another half a dozen larger projects will be quilted before the weekend is up. I'm so ready for Christmas.
