Mille Vanille and her Work

My retreat this past weekend took on a new twist with the addition of bringing an APQS Millennium quilting machine to the retreat location. I wasn't sure how it would go over--would my guests like to try it out? Would they bring tops to work on? Having a teacher that could help them through the process would be important.

By the end of the weekend, it was clear that having this "tool" available was a huge hit. Whether you had anything to quilt or not, it was fun to try. Tonia, an avid scrapbooker...soon to turn quilter, gave the machine a try.

Tonia at the machine. Onlookers include, from left, teacher Connie, and guests Jill, Marny, and Teresa.

Melissa practiced her long-arm skills on her dog blanket.

Donna Jo finished a picnic blanket for her daughter.

Connie, left, pieced and quilted a store sample for Stephanie's quilt shop in Clinton, Iowa.

Marny waffled between her quilting this top or hiring Connie to do it for her. I'm so glad she chose to quilt it herself. It's darling.

Here's a detail of the flowers she quilted.
