Barn Quilt Raising

On Sunday the barn quilt I painted was hung!

The help arrived.

The situation was assessed.

The block was raised into place.

The holes were drilled, screws added.

A little leveling to be sure things were straight.

And, the job was done! I LOVE it!

Love the painting, I know people driving by with take a double look.
Now, wondered if those hardworking men who put it up are available for hire to do a bit of work for several senior ladies, grin. Of course it does mean a trip to lovely western NC also, grin. Kidding aside, it's nice you had the man power available for the job.

Okay. Comments...first, I'm planning on (excited about?) doing the barn quilt thing myself. I will be doing it w/stretcher strips and canvas, but I know it'll be fine that way. Been thinking about it quite a while. Stop thinking, start doing!!
Layout: I do really like it. I love the random numbers (in circles...I love circles!), and I like the diagonal layout. You are right...the numbers would be better in brown, but would anyone else even notice that? No. It'd just be a little more subtle.
A good job done, a good layout, and what fun!!

Heidi, I've thought of taking that class too......wish I'd known you were in Hampton, would have been fun to see you again! I'm working on a small barn quilt myself right now; it's 4' x 4' and will go on the corn crib/garage at the head of the driveway. I'll get pictures on my blog soon.
