Pumpkins and Practice
Layout 3 in my Jessicasprague.com Type +Writer Class has me challenged, so I went on to layout 4. It was about capturing dialogue/interviewing. Kids are perfect topic for this assignment. Here's just one recente example.
Henry: What are you fixing for supper, Mom?
Mom: Goulash
Henry: How do you make goulash?
Mom: hamburger, onions, peppers (I pause thinking of my class instructions.) What do you think is in goulash?
Henry: Hot dogs
Mom: Silly.
Henry: Silly me, or silly Mom?
Mom: Silly mom of course for not thinking about putting hot dogs in goulash.
After our windy Monday, yesterday was a perfect fall day. So we visited Aunt Janet's house to pick pumpkins. Working with the same idea of capturing a great quote...my ears were listening intently and my camera was clicking quickly as we picked pumpkins. After the girls went to bed I pulled out the assignment layout and loaded my photos to Memory Manager.
With this layout in mind, I found a line of papers and embellishments to go with my quote.

Henry is absorbing school like a sponge. He's sky-writing numbers and letters. He's spelling words. He's beginning to read. He's using words like I have never heard before.

Needless to say it was a lovely evening with a big pile of pumpkins to show for our efforts.

Moments with their great aunt that will last a lifetime.

Oh those precious kiddos and how the girls have grown. I love this time of year. The pumpkins make the photos so fun.
PS - I am going to Houston quilt show. Will you happen to be there this year at the APQS booth? I'd love to greet and swap howdies.

What fun pics of the kids with their pumpkins! I just loved the goulash conversation! Just made me smile. I make goulash a lot. My son was never crazy about it, though. He would tell you that hot dogs were meant to be cut up and put in macaroni and cheese, his favorite.
