My first Haiku

When APQS travels to shows we save dollars by booking our rooms through an on-line booking agent. But, that means we don't stay in the same hotel each year and some hotels are better than others. This year we did good! We're staying at Hotel Indigo across the street from the Galleria. We can see the front door to Nordstrom's while we're eating breakfast. Check out this hotel on-line...a real chick kind of place. Peri-winkle and green are everywhere. Along with seasonal images to set a theme.

Being the poet I am--NOT--I've gotten a chuckle out of all the haiku's found in the hotel. A what you say? Here's the definition you'll find on the back of the menu.

a haiku is a poem written in 3 lines, that usually consists of five, seven, and then five syllables. it traditionally denotes a season in which the poem is set, with additional references to the natural world.

APQS team includes, from left, Mike Walton, Karen McTavish, Claudia Clark Myers, Myrna Ficken, and myself.

We chose The Cheesecake Factory at the Galleria for supper...thank goodness they have "Weight Reduction" salads because I wanted to eat this!
And yes the pumpkin cheesecake "tastes like fall" according to Karen McTavish.

With a 45-minute wait for supper we decided to shop. Well window shop that is. The $895 shoes just didn't seem to look quite right for my outfit. And, the $45,000 crystal chandelier seems a little too dressy for our barn-style house. But, don't you think Myrna looks like she belongs here.

While finishing our wonderful supper last night, it only seemed appropriate that we write a haiku. This is my first collaborative efforts with Karen, Claudia, Myrna, and Mike.

Award winning don't you think?

I've seen lots of quilts and stuff today...but hugs from friends have been the best. Many of you will recognize these creative woman. From left: Linda Lum Debono, myself, Jennifer Keltner, and Lila Scott; Elizabeth and Pam; bottom row, from left, Kathy Schmitz, and Jane Sassaman.
