AQS Quilt Show in Des Moines
Yesterday was the opening of the 2009 AQS Show in Des Moines, Iowa. It's wonderful to have such a high-caliber show in our own town! If you're coming to the show, which runs through October 31, be sure to stop by and see me in the APQS booth.
I've only had a few minutes to browse the floor, but it's packed with great vendors...like the wool girls from Williamsburg and my quilt shop friends in Ames.
The award-winning quilts are incredible, including these two great APQS quilt artist.
Marilyn Badger took Best Longarming Award for Bali Hai.

And, APQS Director of Education and fellow Iowan Dawn Cavanaugh took Honorable Mention with Garden Frost.

Check out the quilting in the border. There's even a video of Dawn working on this quilt.

The quilts are stunning! The one by Marilyn Badger is just beautiful in the colors she chose and makes me wish I could see "up close" what the quilting looks like. The close-up of Dawn's quilt really shows the accuracy you can get with machine quilting. It, too, is beautiful. Thanks for the link to the "Wool Girls". I think I will be able to make a visit to their shop in the next week or so when I am in Iowa City.

I admire the Garden Frost quilt. This quilt artist knows their stuff. The background seems to glow from behind and the color selection is beautiful. No wonder it was awarded a prize.
Thanks
