Hen and Chicks Quilt Studio Retreat in Full Swing

With bright, fresh Gerber daisies in hand, I welcomed my guests to my annual quilt retreat.

The vases not only made the tables springlike, but are doing double-duty as name cards. The guests received a tote full of essential items for the weekend, including their favorite beverage and snack.

Sewing machines started humming within minutes of guests arriving. Blocks are being arranged and sewn into rows...and rows into quilts...borders being added...and quilts being quilted.

Lynne is trying out her arrangement on the floor. Wonder if she'll get that pieced tomorrow?

APQS Director of Education Dawn Cavanaugh is helping guests on the Millennium. Donna Jo already has a quilt done (more pictures tomorrow).

Cristina brought her version of my pattern called Echo, which she started in my class in Clinton, Iowa, last November. I love her purple accents. It's going to be quilted before the weekend is over.

Some have turned in for the night, others are giggling and singing. Tomorrow will bring another day of fun and excitement.
