MQS 2010 Kicks off with Excitement!
Yesterday I arrived in Overland Park, Kansas, to cloudy skies and sharp strikes of lightening...but it didn't stop the MQS (Machine Quilters Showcase) awards ceremony from going on. The cheers for APQS artists winning big could have made the room shudder as much as the lightening shook the room. APQS sponsors two categories and I get the pleasure of presenting the awards with Bob Ketcham. We don't know the winners until we get up on stage. Last night when the card was handed to me for the Innovative Custom category my heart started to pound and my hands started to shake...two APQS artists were at the top of the winner's list.
Dawn Cavanaugh, the Director of Education at APQS, took first place with her quilt Garden Frost. I'll take more pictures today to share...it's just an incredible quilt.

Marilyn Badger took second place with her quilt Filigree. Stunning.

I'll be taking lots of quilt pictures today and can't wait to share.
