A piece here, A piece there
Weatherwanves and roosters and farm animals...how could I not LOVE this fabric. So it will come as no surprise that when I purchased it years ago (the selvage says Weathervanes by Alexander Henry 2003) I bought lots! I've been saving it for just the right quilt. Well the day has come. Next week the new king-size bed we ordered back in March is suppose to arrive. After nearly 19 years of marriage we decided that it was time to move up from the antique double bed we've been sleeping in. On Sunday morning when we're trying to sleep in and three kids are crawling all over us it's just a little cozy.
For me, making a two-color quilt means 3 gold fabrics were used and at least 20 black fabrics. (I lost count after awhile.) I love the scrappiness. While traveling during the month of April my goal was to have everything cut while hanging out in hotels. I cut a few days in Chicago and wrapped it up in Paducah. My roomies will tell you I was driven to get it cut.
Now I'm piecing. My blocks of time at the sewing machine are 10 minutes here, maybe a 2-hour nap there, but I'm making progress.

The blocks are starting to form...

Nothing is better than a bed full of kids! Enjoy every minute of them snuggling and sharing! Your quilt will be fabulous.

The weathervane fabric is beautiful. Glad you put the caveat in about the black and gold....I still have issues with that color combo 40 years after graduation from ISU and over 20 years in another state! But I'm sure your blocks will be exquisite in design!

Love the fabric! And what an inspiration you are....the fabric that I have stashed away WILL come in handy some day! BTW, we graduated to a king size bed this year as well. Wow, there are days I have to ask my husband if he slept in our bed....it's like he is in another county!
