Sweet Results!
Last Thursday and Friday I had the opportunity to work with a great group of quilters in Quincy, Illinois. On Thursday evening I gave my quilt talk about my family jewels. They were so patient as my computer decided to upload updates just as I started my presentation. But, once that got taken care of we were good to go.
The guild selected my pattern Candy Dish for the Friday workshop. These women were so organized and had all of their cutting done before the class started! It's fun to see how people bring their stuff--zip locks, scrapbooking containers, and boxes. And how they utilize their workspace.

There was a potluck lunch. Do I need to say anything more?
The people are always my favorite part of any quilting event. That's what makes quilting so special--it's for everyone. In Quincy I met 91-year-old Catherine. What a sweetheart! All I can say is that I hope when I'm 91 I'm still dragging my sewing machine to classes. As we were chatting someone else was asking Catherine about quilting and all I heard was "well it keeps me off the streets." It was followed by a little chuckle. It's brought a smile to my face every since.
Blocks starting taking shape quickly.

And blocks were turning into rows.

Bless Catherine's heart! She has the key to a long life - Never give up the desire to learn something new. She is a sweetheart! Looks like a great class and a really great block. Thank you for sharing.
Have a super great day. Stay cool

The colorful photos of all those assorted triangles for the Candy Dish quilt are enough to push me to start one of my own. I bought your pattern when you visited our Clear Lake Guild earlier this month, and I think a great scrappy quilt like this is exactly what I need to work on next.
Catherine sounds like a joy to meet and have in the class. May we all bring laughter to others when we're 91!

They are so pretty! I really miss belonging to a quilt guild; there aren't any nearby where I live now.

What a colorful quilt project. I love scrappy so I should get that pattern. I need to finish your tablerunner first, then I'll reward myself with "Candy Dish". I love the photo and story of Catherine. I have a 95 year old friend, Lois, who makes me hope that I will still be going to quilt meetings when I'm her age. Love it!
