My Farmer
Henry and Megan
The Hardin County Fair begins today and our preparations for Henry's first showing experience continue. Megan, his bottle calf, finally has decided to walk nicely behind the hay rack. We can only hope that she'll do the same during the bucket calf show.
The priceless moment was yesterday morning when he and his sisters went shopping with Marie and Marta. Armed with $10 in his pocket and instructions from me that he could buy anything (expect too much sugar), they entered the first store. He wanted the plaid shirt. Marie quized him, "was he sure, if he spent all his money on this, then he couldn't buy anything else. No toys, nothing." Yep, it's what he wanted to buy. Once in the car he told me "I didn't have a plaid farm shirt like dad. Now he could look just like Dad when they did farm chores." (Insert his big grin.) He's proud as punch and making his mother cry. (Insert kleenex.)

Brought tears to my eyes when I read your post so I can surely understand why it brought tears to your eyes. What a sweet thing he did and a compliment to his dad.

Hi Heidi,
I have been having trouble commenting on your blog. The security code numbers were not appearing so I could leave a comment. Anyway...LOVE the picture of Henry with his plaid shirt. So priceless. I got a little misty at the story too. And also....love your house colors! We just painted too, and I had my front door painted a brown/red that looks very like yours in this photo. I just posted on it, go peek.
Hugs,
Kris

What a sweet boy. Love the shirt and the thought behind it. I grew up in small farming community in Idaho and we always got new plaid shirts for the rodeo.
