DIY Wedding
Once again I was awed by the location of a wedding--this time overlooking the great Mississippi river. My former co-worker Elizabeth and her sister chose to have a double wedding and it was double the fun and creativity!

With a nod to the historic Muscatine buttons , there were touches of buttons in the wedding. The men wore these, although no two were alike.

After the wedding ceremony each guest got a little package. The word below your name matched the seating card on the tables.

The centers of the table echoed the purple and pink color scheme, with strips of sewn fabric (a perfect touch for a quilter.)

The flowers were fresh picked at a local garden to coordinate. Buttons were tossed on the table runners to continue the theme.

Dessert was delightful--who can't love this menu.

Antique plates were glued to antique candle holders for a charming display.

Hats off to a beautiful bride and a good friend, Elizabeth, for making her wedding very personal with all of the creative touches (including making her own wedding dress) and heartfelt sentiments.

I thought this might be the end of our weddings this year, but just this weekend we learned of two weddings we'll be attending in October! I'm already eager to see what creative touches those brides will be adding to their special days. Remember to leave a comment on the September 4 blog to have a chance to win a third blog anniversary prize. Good luck!

What clever decorations! I had to Google Muscatine buttons. Now I need to look in my vintage button stash and see if there are any from Muscatine. The cupcake plates are just fabulous. I have plates and candleholders and I am going to make me some fancy cupcake holders. Thanks for sharing Elizabeth's special day.
