Mini Vacation
When I travel, it's so often for work, that I have my packing list down--computer, cell phone, work folders, work clothes. So, with a chance for a quick get-a-away with my husband came along, it was exciting for many reasons. Like what would I pack for carrying on the plane? The winners--some wool applique, favorite reading for inspiration, and a notebook for writing down all of the thoughts that would pop into my head without the normal daily distractions.
Our desitination? Washington, D.C. I hadn't been there since my 4-H trip in high school. The feeling of history is overwhelming. Here are two images that I took this week.
More on DC to come, but right now we have the last three winners to announce for the 3rd Anniversary Blog Drawings. The following three comments have been selected to win--e-mail me your mailing address at heidi@heidikaisand.com and I'll drop three Hen and Chicks patterns in the mail to you.

How cool!! Those canvases will be a treasure now and as years go by!! I still have some framed crayon drawings hanging in my studio that the kids did, and they're 40+ now!! Love them still!!
And kids LOVE the painting process! And the finished product when they get approval!!
Go kids!! Go Grandma!! Go ART!!

Thanks to everyone for making my anniversary and my blog a success. Please stop by my blog often and say hello.

I'm so excited!! Yippee!! I never win anything!!
You don't know it, but I have been a hen & chicks person for maybe 40 years. I loved my own chickens so much and then began collecting for the house. I still like some, but without the live ones, I've become more of a towner. I do still think about having maybe three hens and building a pen.
I would think it'd make sense if you just brought them to church Sun or I would be happy to pick them up at your house!
Thank you sooooo much!!

Beautiful photos as always. I have visited lots of places but have never been to Washington, D.C. My husband traveled to D.C. regularly but somehow I never managed a "tag-along" trip for me. Someday........
