The Race is On
I leave on Friday for an APQS business trip to Houston, Texas. It will be my 18th year for attending the International Quilt Market and Festival. The inspiration and creativity will be over flowing. I'll take lots of pictures and post them. But between now and departure time, I MUST finish the quilt top I'm making for the AASV Foundation auction. I want to take it with me to give it to my friend to quilt!

It's in rows and I'm joining them together. I have to make some decisions on the middle border. I think the blue on the bottom will look too blaugh...but is the blue with the chicks too much? What's your vote?

Heidi,
Have fun at market. And I too love quotes. May I share these two?

It seems to me that the darker blue would pull and hold the whole design together very well! That's my vote...

I like the borders as you have them laid out. All three appear to me to bring it all together. Have fun at Houston. And have a super great sewing day.

I personally like that blue on top of the plain blue that is in the middle best out of all the fabrics. I'm guessing you are looking at 3 borders, much like you have them laid out, but are deciding between the "plain" medium blue and the one above it (chicks? can't tell). IMHO, the plain medium blue doesn't seem to give it enough "punch" but the one above it might be too much NEXT to the outside border, which already has a pattern. What if you switched it around so that one of the plain blues were in the middle?

I like the dark blue best. I have been a big fan and enjoy your blog. I am heading to Houston also, with plans to test drive EVERY single long-arm machine, stocking up on fabric I know I don't need and visiting with family I don't see often enough. Have Fun.

I like the print for the middle border unless you are planning a wide border. The two plain fabrics are too blah. I might even make the dark blue a dark red or other contrasting color to add a little surprise.

I agree with Ida, the two patterned prints next to each other might be a bit busy. I LOVE the way the dark blue solid fabric draws attention to the similarly-colored animals in the feature print; they really pop! It is fun to watch this come together; whatever you decide will look great!
